about me

  • i love the outdoors
    but i'm agoraphobic...
  • i'm ocd
    but i'm really lazy...
  • i'm a simple girl
    with a complicated brain...
  • i'd be more of a perfectionist
    but i can't be arsed.

signs of life

posted on March 12th

ok, so this past winter wasn’t toooo bad, but still. i love the beginning of spring, and seeing everything waking up from it’s sluggish or dormant winter state. (myself included.)

the weather was just too gloriously sunny and warm to sit around indoors yesterday, and so i spent some much needed time in the garden, clearing away a lot of old growth and leaves and suchlike.

underneath a layer of brown and crispy vegetation, i spotted these peonies poking their heads above ground

i’m really pleased to see them as they’re one of my favourites… i thought i’d killed them at one stage, because i had to dig them all out to try and get rid of the ground elder roots that were growing everywhere. and they sort of went into shock and withered away. but they’ve struggled back against all the rough handling odds!

i also spotted lots of new buds and leaves just starting to emerge. i love it when everything is fresh and new and super bright green!

of course super bright orange is cool too - i love the new leaves of this spirea in early spring, before they change colour.

also out enjoying the sunshine yesterday were 21748746874560981242857 ladybirds, which were literally everywhere i looked

most of them were in little heaps, busy doing all sorts of naughty ladybird business… i didn’t know they were so into, er, group activies.

i have not included a photo of this because hey. it’s a family site. and you haven’t come here looking for insect porn… have you?

ah, the joys of nature in the spring!
