it’s nice to just indulge in a little ME time, right?
i’m not very good at this – i always have to be doing something with a purpose, otherwise the guilt just eats away at me. but, yesterday, with the rain pouring down, and the plumber having gone AWOL, and unable to get on with anything else until the AWOL plumber had returned… well, i decided to sit under a blanket with a cup of tea and a good film and do something just for fun.
thank gawd i just happened to have a (special purple edition!) caroline rose colouring in book handy!

10 pages of beautiful illustrations which were such fun to colour in – i even managed to stay inside the lines! (mostly.)
i would have loved it if i could have done more of the same today, unfortunately the plumber turned up and spoiled all my fun :(
but! it was great while it lasted, and very therapeutic.
you can buy yourself a copy from her shop here or here!
available NOW! so go buy one*
*(or two or three)
…when we B&Q it.
because literally every time – and i mean EVERY. TIME. we go in there for 1 thing, this happens:

fool me once, shame on you…
fool me nine hundred and eleventy billion times….
yeah i know, this news is shocking to me, too. but i have just attended a picnic for ladies, so it must be true.
the weather was lovely and spring-like, so the mister and i (yes, he is one of the girls too) drove down to derbyshire, to attend a small gathering at my sister and her misters house.
it’s not often we all get a chance to get together, so when the opportunity arises, we grab it! i even got my hair did, and wore clean (ie, not splattered with paint and compost) clothes for the occasion! <- fancy!! (like a lady!!)
here is photographic evidence that it is actually possibly for me to be sociable and mingle with other human beings:

the weather was lovely, briefly, so we made the most of it and sat in the warm spring sunshine, beneath the pretty flowering cherry tree.

it was very spring-y! and lovely!
and so we sat, enjoying awesome 70′s party food like cheese and pineapple….ON A STICK!!!!

(with requisite EU regulation style warning flags in order to protect our health and safety, lest we impale ourselves or lose an eye)
(handmade by fionaT)
and we also enjoyed devouring (in ladylike fashion of course) the most delicious lemon cheesecake…omnomnomnom

(handmade my caroline rose)(is there no end to her talents?)(<- answer: no.)
my sweet niece enjoyed the company and the sunshine too.

sadly she missed out on cheesecake because her auntie did. not. drop. a. single. crumb.
the picnic was awesome fun and we had an absolute hoot – it’s wonderful spending time in the company of people who share the same brains. (… it makes me feel less of a freak) :D
all too soon it was time to sniffle into our lace handkerchiefs and say our goodbyes… until we meet again.
*sob*

(i continued to sniffle into my lace handkerchief all the way home, but i’ve got a feeling that’s probably because i’m still full of man-flu.)
all in all – best day ever! until next time, ladies <3
